Three and a half Men

The National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM) proudly brings you an evening of fun and laughter.   Through a generous sponsorship all proceeds of one night of the season will go towards the operational costs of running our eight Centres.

Three and a Half Men is a stand-up comedy show produced by the Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians (MACC) featuring three manly men – Douglas Lim. Kuah Jenhan and Phoon Chi Ho. Like most things masculine, it started off pretty small but has grown considerably. To date, there have been 4 shows:

–   1st Easy Going Meeting (2009)

–   1st EGM Chnese New Year Edition (2010)

–   Internal Afairs (2010)

–   Internal Affairs CNY Edition (2011)

The last 2 shows were completely sold out, bringing laughter to over 3600 comedy fans. Demand soon started coming in from outside Kuala Lumpur resulting in succesful shows in Penang and Johor Bahru and Melaka. The M.A.C.C have also been nominated for Best Comedy Viedo at the DIGI WWWOW Awards 2011. Yet the boys are not resting on their laurels (because they have none) and have set their sights on a mega stand-up comedy extravaganza in Morib sometime before they die.

In the meantime, Douglas Lim. Kuah Jenhan and Phoon Chi Ho will be at the PJ Live ArtsTheatre with their latest offering – THREE and a half MEN. This show promises new comedy material, updated observations, funny videos and hilarious song parodies. It will also feature a fresh addition to the line-up. Known in the local comedy scene as Dr. Jason, he promises to “try my best-lah”.

There is no conspiracy, no scandal and no hidden agenda; just 1 and-a-half hours of healthy Malaysian laughter. All are welcome.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Douglas Lim

Douglas Lim is now primarily a STAND-UP COMEDIAN. But due to his greed, he is also many things. For example, he is an ACTOR on both screen and stage (Spontan, Lat the Musical, 1957 – Hati Malaya, Los & Faun, TenTenTen, Kopitiam, Homecoming, P.Ramlee the Musical, Tunku the Musical, Broken Bridges, etc…). He is also a COMPOSER & LYRICIST for tv and stage (Kopitiam, Reality, Ghost, Cuci the Musical, etc…).

His stand-up comedy performances include “Kings and Queen of Comedy Asia”, “The haritHDouglas Show”, Comedy Club KL, Comedy Club Singapore, Harith Iskander’s Nationwide Tour and M.A.C.C.   Douglas Lim was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy at the Asian TV Awards. He lost to Gurmit Singh (Phua Chu Kang)!

Kuah Jenhan

Kuah Jenhan, STAND UP COMEDIAN, is probably the first person to be called a ‘Killing Machine’ on a Malaysian newspaper (The Star) and get away with it (not too difficult).

Since professionally starting his comedic career in March 2009, Jenhan has already performed for occasions such as Advertising+Marketing Magazine’s Agency of The Year 2010, The Malaysia Effie Awards 2010, Guinness St Patricks Festival 2010, The 7th Johor Baru Arts Festival, and many others.

2011 saw Jenhan having his debut solo show entitled Kuah Jenhan: Tall, Dark, and Comedian to two consecutive sold out shows at the PJ Live Arts Theatre! He is also the CO-WRITER of Malaysia’s best selling musical (to date) Lat Kampung Boy – Sebuah Muzikal.

Phoon Chi Ho

Beginner’s luck must be Phoon Chi Ho’s best friend. His first year in STAND-UP COMEDY saw him earn a tenure at Time Out KL’s Comedy Thursdays and a spot in the M.A.C.C. He has since opened for Harith Iskander (This …is it?, 2010) and for several international comics (Comedy Club KL, 2010).

His first taste of comedy was back in 2004, when he co-founded the local comedy-dance troupe, The ComeBackKings, which raked more than 100 stage performances and 15 episodes for gua.com.my’s comedy segment “Joke Aje”. He is also the talent hunter for the Young Comedians of Malaysia (YCOM).

His first stage ACTING stint even landed him the Best Actor Award for KLPAC’s Short+Sweet 2010.

Dr Jason Leong

Jason is the newest addition to the urban KL comedy scene, and his rise since finding his comedic voice has been stellar. Barely 1 year since his debut onstage, he has been a regular for TimeOut Comedy KL’s monthly gigs, having performed with industry greats such as Douglas Lim and America’s bad boy of comedy, Tom Rhodes. Wittier than your average Facebook status update, scandal free and approved by the (Opposition) Government, Jason has also started performing for corporate events, weddings and annual dinners.

Jason also has a trait no other comedian in Malaysia possesses. Apart from making you slap your knee, ache your belly and tickle your funny bone, he is also a full-fledged doctor. Despite being in such a prestigious profession, he still says, “There is literally no better job in the world than being a stand-up comedian”.
